this is a canip- it is a funny little Carribean fruit that is just now in season.

I live on the french island of St. Barthelemy. Canips are in season here too (of course!) yesterday I went walking with a friend and we picked them off the trees on the roadside and ate while we walked. I took some home & put in the fridge to snack on cold. I was just Googling canip because we call them "canip" while the the french call them "canette" (not sure if the spelling is right) I wanted to see what was what-and that's how I got to your blog!
to answer the questions of what they taste like- they have a similar taste & texture of a lychee I think, and are the size of large grapes.
Aren't they a wonderful, fun treat to snack on!?
